Wayne Rooney:
We could've won at Chelsea and leapfrogged Arsenal
WAYNE ROONEY believes Manchester United could've beaten Chelsea yesterday evening.
The Red Devils suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Premier League leaders thanks to a first-half strike from Eden Hazard.
The loss at Stamford Bridge leaves United 11 points behind the Blues and one behind second placed Arsenal.
United dominated the contest in west London and had 61-per-cent possession of the ball.
And Rooney, who had a golden chance to put the visitors in-front in the fourth minute, thinks that Louis van Gaal's men - who saw their six-match unbeaten run ended at the Bridge - could've won the match.
"I thought it [the performance] was excellent, we dominated from start to finish, Rooney told MUTV.
We created some good chances, but unfortunately didnt take any of them.
"I felt that if we got a goal, even with five minutes to go, we would have gone on to win."
I think we can take great confidence from this result as Ive rarely seen a team come to Stamford Bridge and dominate so much, all that was missing was a goal. On another day we could have scored two or three goals, but it wasnt to be today. We have to move on now and look forward to facing Everton next weekend.
