FEELIN' BLUE: Social media reveals Chelsea fans love Tories

FEELIN' BLUE:

Social media reveals Chelsea fans love Tories

UKIP voters love Top Gear, the Tories support Chelsea and Labour fans are feminists, according to a social media study.

The political party people vote for is directly linked to what they talk about on Twitter and Facebook, says analytics business Crimson Hexagon.

Research found that Ukip followers were far more interested in commenting on telly favourite Top Gear than the average user of social networking sites.

Conservative voters were twice as likely to post about Chelsea football club.

They also particularly enjoyed getting into online debates over the NHS and the public sector.

Labour supporters were more likely to post comments on feminism, food banks and wildlife.

Lib Dems were by far the most interested in lesbian, bisexual, gay, and transgender issues, twice as likely to give their opinions on crime and had a greater than average interest in the anti-voting comic Russell Brand.

Green Party supporters talked a lot about climate change, poverty and welfare.

Those who like the SNP couldn’t stop going on about the pet hates of their leader Nicola Sturgeon – David Cameron and his policies – but thanks to ex Wimbledon champ Andy Murray, tennis was also a hot topic.
