KILLER Oscar Pistorius survives on tinned food in jail because he fears fellow lags are trying to poison him.
The blade runner, caged last year for blasting model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp to death, is paranoid inmates are trying to wipe him out.
His weight is said to have plummeted because all he lives on is canned grub bought from the prison tuck shop.
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic star is looking over his shoulder after he was said to have received death threats inside South Africa’s Kgosi Mampuru jail.
Prisoners say that he uses his £9 monthly allowance to by food such as tinned chakalaka, a spicy South African vegetable stew.
The 28-year-old is said to be living in a solitary cell in the jail’s hospital wing and stays away from other lags.
A prisoner said: “He has no contact with other inmates, where people fight and stab each other.”
Pistorius was sentenced to five years for manslaughter after shooting Reeva, 29, through a bathroom door on Valentine’s Day, 2013.
But the South African superstar could be out of jail and placed under house arrest as early as August, just 10 months after he was sentenced.
