Aston Villa caretaker boss Scott Marshall: This job is too big for a novice
STAND-IN boss Scott Marshall says the Aston Villa job is too big for someone with ‘L’ plates.
Villa go into Sunday’s FA Cup game against Leicester with Marshall standing in for sacked boss Paul Lambert.
Marshall doesn’t anticipate being in the job long, but says it’s no place for novices.
He’ll pick the side for the Cup clash and then expects to hand the reins over.
Marshall said: “This is not a job for someone to cut their teeth on. This is all new to me, but I’m happy to do it while things are being sorted.
“It’s a big job. I don’t think the players have a point to prove. They want to go out and win the game because they are good professionals and there is a quarter-final place at stake.”
Marshall said he had spoken to Lambert and that he was clearly very disappointed that he’d been shown the door.
"I’m sure he will be back in work soon. You don’t have a career like he ahs had without having setbacks. He’ll be back – that’s the sort of character he is.”
