40ft Megawave batters Britain
THE worlds biggest waves battered Britain yesterday as forecasters warned spring would kick off with snow, strong winds and heavy rain.
Incredible pictures showed the huge 40ft waves battering Sennen on the Cornish coast.
Photographer Lee Searle said: It was awe inspiring. The size and power of the waves were so impressive. Sennen gets the full power of the Atlantic.
The Met Office said western and northern Britain faced downpours today with the south and east in for a soaking tomorrow.
Most of the country will also see 50-60mph winds.
The Environment Agency warned it could spark floods ahead of the first day of spring on Sunday.
Brian Gaze, from The Weather Outlook, said: Winter could have a sting in its tail.
He spoke as forecasts warned icy air from Greenland would make tomorrows highs of 4-10C feel more like -1 to 5C well into the weekend.
