Abu Hamza 'to dob in his pal' as terror cleric makes deal for cushy life in jail
US authorities are set to strike a deal with terror cleric Abu Hamza in a bid to secure the conviction of his UK-born lieutenant.
In May the former Finsbury Park mosque imam was found guilty of terrorism charges after a trial in New York.
He will be sentenced in the new year.
Last month the Americans scored another success when they secured the extradition of the terror cheerleaders deputy, Dewsbury-born Haroon Rashid Aswat, 56.
Now we can reveal a leading figure involved in helping bring Hamza to justice claims US authorities are set to strike a deal with the hook-handed preacher in return for securing Aswats conviction.
Former spy Reda Hassaine worked for the British Government in the 1990s gathering information on Islamist extremists Hamza and Abu Qatada.
The former MI5 agent understands American prosecutors want to offer Hamza a list of improved conditions but no reduction in his expected life sentence in return for him giving evidence against Aswat.
Mr Hassaine recently penned a book, Abu Hamza: Guilty The Fight Against Radical Islam, detailing his struggle against Britains Islamic extremist fringe.
He told us: I believe the Americans will strike a deal with Abu Hamza in order to secure his testimony against Haroon Aswat.
Hamza will still get 99 years in jail but he will be able to improve his conditions if he gives evidence against Aswat.
He is going to be in a tiny cell with no books, no newspapers and no visits you just wait in your cell to die.
They may say they can give him a television or Islamic reading material in return for him testifying.
"They will get whatever they can from him.
Hamza has already served seven years in Britain for soliciting to murder and inciting racial hatred.
Aswat, 40, is accused by the Americans of working with Hamza in 1999 to set up a jihadist training camp in Oregon.
He is now set to spend time in the same hardline supermax prison as Hamza in Florence, Colorado.
Prior to the 9/11 and 7/7 attacks Mr Hassaine reported to Scotland Yards Special Branch and MI5 on Hamza and Qatada, claiming both men were inciting terror attacks in London.
The former agent claims the authorities ignored his warnings.
